Sometimes, mistakes are made, but sometimes, things turn out better, and people are not always what they seem.
Growing up in and out of foster homes and craving love, Piper Brennan, who has no real sense of what a good relationship is, drunkenly smacks into her next-door idolizing neighbor, Evan. He looks like a shlub, but does well with his band and has been in “lust” or love with her since she moved in. However. she’s never given him a second glance.
Now having been rejected again, coming home drunk from a bar, Piper corners Evan and pulls him into her apartment.

Waking up, hung over, Piper cringes when she realizes what she’s done but thinks it won’t matter…until it does and she’s missed her period. Now she’s stuck. But who would want someone like Evan, who seem to be a nerd as the father of her child. That would link them together for an eighteen-year sentence, at least?
Piper decides she must find a more suitable person to help her with her pregnancy. After several failed attempts, she lands on Cameron Cassidy, a stockbroker, who’s fawned after Piper each time he comes into her coffee shop.
A naïve fellow, Evan, who is very much still Mama’s boy, believes they have a “real” relationship and feels totally rejected when Piper refuses to continue their one-night stand.

Cameron succumbs to Piper’s plan and quickly takes on the role of doting father-to-be introducing her to his family who are ecstatic at their first grandchild.
Quickly overwhelmed by all the family that she never had, and not realizing that to be a family means sacrifice, Piper gets upset when Cameron chooses to work overtime for a promotion (for the benefit of his future child, he believes) instead of taking narcissistic Piper to a Lamaze class. She ends up going to the Lamaze class with none other than her neighbor who moonlights as an Uber driver.

At a surprise baby shower planned by Cameron’s family, Piper comes to terms with her real self and realizes that she has to admit what she’s done to Cameron and to Evan.

Now no one is happy with her, not even her roommate. Piper’s forced to make the transformational journey to be a more authentic person as she tries to make amends to those she’s wounded.
Somewhat reminiscent of Knocked Up (2007), Plan B, a rom-com feature, now shows on Prime (Amazon.) Written by Brandon Tamburri and Jean Monpere, and directed by Brandon Tamburri it stars Jamie Lee, Jon Heder, Shannon Elizabeth, Tom Berenger, Vernon Davis, Kate Flannery, Michael Lombardi, Subhah Agarwal, and Daniel K. Isaac.
The cast and acting were great though I found the cute meet a bit stilted and would have liked a bit more history of the two neighbors before the event. However, the movie smoothed out later. It can be a pleasant few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
